URBAN SPACES.. A VISUAL STUDY OF THE FORM AND CONTENT RELATIONSHIP

Abstract

This research analyses the shape and content of the urban spaces through the different roles it plays inside the urban environment. That will be achieved through classification according to the shape such as corridors, streets or urban courts, and according to the various activities of the users upon which the designer controls the proportions of space, its area and its relation to the surrounding environment, the analyses of the urban spaces will also include its various components and the distribution of elements within , that will take into account the foundation of visual composition of the different spaces and achieving user comfort and safety. The research depended on the descriptive method by combining the studies of previous theories containing the available information in the field of study. The research covers all the points related to the study of space in form and content .that include the concept of space, its components and properties and the factors influencing its composition and the various classifications of the architectural spaces. The research ends with finding some facts that can be used to analyze and compare the previous studies to reach some conclusions and recommendations related to the design of the spaces in order to formulate the best design and planning criteria for residential neighborhoods that meet the current and future needs of the population
