Abstract

The research deals with identifying the housing systems for workers in industrial sector in Egypt, and their different urban patterns. It also deals with the time stages that passed through the workers housing systems and the changes associated with each time period. The recent study shed light on this type of housing, which has been hidden from mind for a long time, and the obstacles that hinder its existence now. The research seeks to suggest modern systems that can provide housing for workers in industrial companies in Egypt. The research field study included field visits to each of the New Urban Communities Authority in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and to get acquainted with the other systems followed in housing workers in industrial companies in the countries neighboring Egypt, which have large industrial areas. The field visit included both the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, and the Saudi Council for Cities Industrial and Technology Zones "MODON", in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The research dealt with the systems followed for housing workers in industrial companies in the United Arab Emirates. Through the results of the study and the results of field visits, the research proposes a system for housing workers in industrial companies in Egypt.
This paper studies the types of housing systems of industrial workers in Egypt.The case study includes some housing systems of industrial workers in Egypt &Arabian Gulf. Through this study, the paper will recommend a suggested system to provide housing for industrial workers in Egypt.Providing this housing system could solve a lot of problems such as, decreasing slums, traffic jam, and pollution. It could also attract investments and it would increase the workers’ productivity.
