Abstract

The research was interested in studying the elements of the healing and supportive therapeutic environment in psychiatric hospitals through both theoretical and applied studies, and according to previous studies, the design of health care buildings was based on the medical and functional purpose only without looking at the human and psychological needs of patients. Recent studies have indicated the importance of converting hospital buildings from medical buildings It leads only to a functional goal and sometimes causes patients to feel anxiety and tension to the buildings of the healing and supportive environment that reduce psychological pressure in the buildings and make them more interactive with the patient’s psychological requirements and needs, in line with modern trends of medicine and architectural concepts, and the relationship of the elements of the healing and supportive environment to the design goals has been reached. For psychiatric hospitals according to the psychological and human needs of psychiatric patients. Through the following methodology, building a theoretical framework that meets the psychological needs of psychiatric patients and determining the relationship between the areas of the therapeutic environment and the design goals of psychiatric hospitals through the theoretical study, and the design elements have been classified into physical elements and complementary elements that contribute to achieving a set of design requirements in the interior spaces.
